FAKE NOTICE ALERT: RDP HOUSING ALLOCATIONS
The Housing Development Agency (HDA) warns the public about a fake poster circulating on social media claiming that RDP housing allocations are being processed and asking people to call or WhatsApp a number.

This notice is FAKE
It was NOT issued by the HDA or government

Know the facts:
- The HDA does NOT allocate houses to individuals
- The HDA does NOT manage housing application lists
- Housing allocations are handled by provincial departments and municipalities only

Protect yourself:
Do NOT share your personal details with unknown individuals
Do NOT pay anyone promising to “fast-track” your housing application
Always verify information through official government channels

2. What is the mandate of the HDA?

Our mandate includes: • Acquiring, assembling, and developing land for human settlements. • Providing technical, planning, and project management support. • Supporting informal settlement upgrading. • Strengthening capacity within provinces and municipalities.

3. Does the HDA build houses?

The HDA does not directly build individual houses. Instead, we: • Prepare land. • Coordinate bulk services. • Manage large-scale human settlement projects. • Provide support to the government and implementing agents. Actual construction is typically carried out by appointed contractors through provincial or municipal human settlements programmes

4. How can I apply for an RDP/BNG house?

Applications are not handled by the HDA. Applicants must register with their local municipality or provincial Department of Human Settlements. The HDA supports these entities with land and project delivery but does not manage beneficiary registration.

The HDA can acquire land through:

State land transfers.
Purchases of private land.
Donations.

Agreements with landowners. All acquisitions follow legislative and Treasury guidelines.
