The HDA has recently produced two videos, one unpacking the human settlement value chain and the other providing an overview of the National Human Settlement Land Indices.
The HDA hosted an informal settlement upgrading workshop on 19 March – this was a follow-on from the partners’ workshop on support for implementation of informal settlement upgrading, held in February. The intention of the workshop was to share with role-players the tools that have been developed to assist provinces and municipalities to undertake informal settlement upgrading.
The HDA hosted a partners’ workshop on support for the implementation of an informal settlement programme on 27 February. The purpose of the workshop was to share the status and progress, and for the partners to update on joint activities on the HDA informal settlements upgrading programme. Shift, PPT, DAG, PLANACT, and the CSIR were in attendance, as well as the NUSP/DHS national team.
The HDA delivered a presentation at the Premier’s consultation meeting with the Human Settlements Department on 4 February 2013. This meeting was attended by executive mayors, municipal managers and housing managers from all Free State municipalities.
More than 2 600 families have received solar-powered geysers as part of government’s programme to create better living conditions for residents of the former Joe Slovo informal settlement in Cape Town.
