The Housing Development Agency (HDA) handed over much-needed school equipment to the newly opened Alfonso Arries Primary School in Chatty on 2 August 2012.
In terms of land, the HDA’s land acquisitions team has secured the release of rural development and land reform land to extend the existing Phuthaditjhaba graveyard. The land known as the remaining extent of farm Klein Begin No979 in the District of Harrismith Free State Province measures 259 hectares and is located within a 3-km radius of Phuthaditjhaba Central Business District.
On 12 May, Taffy Adler, CEO HDA, joined Mosima Mehale, the agency’s newly appointed manager of the Free State programme, at the Govan Mbeki awards ceremony in Bloemfontein. The HDA was the sponsor of three awards and donated three laptops to the Best Young Contractor, Best Woman Contractor and Best Contractor.
The Western Cape Minister of Human Settlements, Minister Bonginkosi Madikizela, head of department Mr Mbulelo Ntshangana, Mayco Member for Human Settlements Councillor Ernest Sonnenberg, and Daphne King, head of Communication and Stakeholder Engagement for the City of Cape Town, spent the day with members of the media visiting the N2 Gateway projects.
A workshop for metros, with the theme, Leadership in local government – building globally competitive cities, took place from 2 to 9 March as part of the executive programme of the graduate school of development, policy and practice at Stellenbosch University. Participants of the conference were city mayors and executive management teams of the metros.
