The HDA accepted an invitation by the South African Planning Institute (SAPI) to participate in its biennial conference, held in Durban. The conference took place from 19-22 October 2014, and was themed “Making Great Places”.
A parallel session was hosted by the HDA and chaired by CEO Taffy Adler. The Agency presented the Master Spatial Plan for Human Settlements and Catalytic Projects Programme respectively, supported by Peter Wolfe from the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Human Settlements.
The conference hosted approximately 300 planning professionals from the public and private sectors; groups and individuals from related professions in the planning and development arena (architects, geographers, development planners, economists, public management, sociologists, urban practitioners, built environment professionals); researchers and academics; decision- and policymakers in planning and development; donors, funders, local and regional development bodies and associations; co-ordinators of strategic initiatives; corporate strategic planners and property developers.
