A mural of a former Minister of Housing (Human Settlements) and anti-apartheid activist, Joe Slovo, was installed in Joe Slovo Phase 3C facing the N2 in Cape Town. The HDA organised the logistics for the mural.
After the 1994 elections, Slovo was elected to Cabinet where he served as the first Minister of Housing until his death on 6 January 1995.
The Joe Slovo informal settlement was, therefore, named after him and is also part of the N2 Gateway Project of which the HDA is an implementing agent.
