In order to deliver on its mandate – the release of suitable land for the creation of sustainable human settlements – the HDA developed a GIS or geographic information system tool called LaPsis (Land and Property Spatial Information System).

In late 2013, the HDA opened an office in the Northern Cape to support the province.
The HDA, as part of its medium-term operational plan with the Free State, has an office in Bloemfontein that provides various services to the province, including informal settlement upgrade support.
The HDA, together with the National Department of Human Settlements (NDHS), hosted a Town Planners’ Workshop in Pretoria on Friday, 24 October 2014.
