Two buildings in the Johannesburg inner city have been released for affordable rental housing development.
The buildings are Union Square, a 19-storey office building that should yield approximately 500 units, and 47 Hoek Street, with nine floors that should yield approximately 250 units.
Both buildings were released by the HDA to JOSHCO, the social housing entity of the City of Johannesburg Metropolitan Municipality.
In addition to these buildings, we have facilitated the release of Fraser House, a six-storey building in Jeppestown in Johannesburg. This is also intended to augment JOSHCO’s rental stock. The property is located in the famous Maboneng Precinct, a primary node for urban regeneration.
Our initiatives ensure delivery of affordable housing opportunities for low-income city dwellers. The initiatives are also aimed at enhancing Johannesburg’s Inner City Housing and Urban Renewal initiatives.
