HDA carries out sign-up process at the Joe Slovo West, Zanemvula project

Beneficiaries who have been identified by the Nelson Mandela Bay Metro have begun to come forward to sign up for 4 000 houses that will be built at Joe Slovo West (Eastern Cape), in the Zanemvula project of which the HDA is an implementing agent. Plans are in the pipeline to implement a system to manage the sign-up process better. Noluthando Mphikwa has lived in Joe Slovo West since 2008. “I am happy that the HDA is here to help us sign up for houses to be built for us, because I can’t afford to travel to Greenacres to go and sign up there,” said Noluthando. The applications process opened on 4 March. A total of 2 403 applicants already live on serviced sites in Joe Slovo West after they were relocated by the metro and the HDA. Representatives of the HDA and the community are assisting with sign-ups and on average, around 70 people arrive for the application process every day. “We are glad that this process assists the delivery of proper houses and title deeds to correct beneficiaries,” said Jacko McCarthy (Town Planner, HDA).
