The HDA land-holding portfolio is steadily growing. Recently, the Agency took transfer of three properties, in Queenstown (Eastern Cape), Tshwane (Gauteng) and Cape Town (Western Cape). The properties have a total combined extent of 26.4218 hectares and can, depending on allowable densities, yield approximately
2 420 housing units.
The Queenstown property is earmarked for social housing development, whereas the Tshwane property is earmarked for integrated mixed-use residential development. Discussions are under way with the City of Cape Town and the provincial Human Settlements Department regarding the use of the Cape Town property.
