Taffy Adler, CEO of the HDA, and Lucien Rakgoale, HDA Manager Land and Property Acquisitions, were recently in Mali supporting the Deputy Minister and the National Department of Human Settlements.
Ministers from 53 African countries shared best practice in the areas of land management and sustainable urbanisation and made solid commitments to improve housing across the continent at the Third African Ministerial Conference on Housing and Urban Development (AMCHUD) in Bamako, Mali from 22 to 24 November 2010.
This year’s theme was ‘Land in the context of sustainable urbanisation’. The HDA prepared the Country Statement which was presented by the Deputy Minister to the Conference. The Bamako Programme of Action was adopted at the conference and is available on www.unhabitat.org.
According to Rakgoale “the South African flavour was captured in the deliberations”.
