The N2 Gateway is a national government-led priority project that plans to deliver 15 000 houses in the Western Cape in areas beset with the problems associated with rapid urbanisation, poverty and homelessness.
Houses were handed over at Delft Symphony 3 and 5, as part of the N2 Gateway project, on 18 February by the Minister of Human Settlements, Connie September, and supported by the Western Cape MEC for Human Settlements, Bonginkosi Madikizela, and Western Cape Premier Helen Zille.
Delft 3 and 5 will deliver 1 911 units. Of the units, 198 are double-storeys and 1 713 single-storeys. About 55 units have been designed for people living with disabilities. A total of 106 units in phase 1 have now been completed, and a total of 633 units are still under construction. All units will be constructed using alternative building technologies (ABT). ABT refers to any form of construction that uses building materials other than brick and mortar. The Western Cape provincial government manages the project, and the HDA’s role is to provide the beneficiary management.
