The Limpopo Department of Co-operative Governance, Human Settlements and Traditional Affairs has partnered with the HDA to, among other things, ensure accelerated delivery of sustainable human settlements in the province. The idea to establish the Agency was taken during the historic conference of the ruling party in Polokwane, Limpopo, in 2007.

The Department has concluded a medium-term operational plan with the HDA, which has seen the Agency recruit young professionals, predominantly from the province, to assist the Department with land geospatial services, planning, informal settlements upgrading, and technical project implementation in the medium term.

The HDA team in Limpopo will therefore ensure that appropriately located land is identified within the province for human settlements; that such land is acquired; and that bulk services are available or installed in collaboration with municipalities. The team will also project manage the implementation of the Bendor Extension 100 flagship project of the Department.
