The Housing Development Agency (HDA) is a National Public sector development agency that inter alia has the mandate to identify, acquire, prepare and develop suitable land for human settlements. The agency also undertakes the programme and project management for development of housing and human settlements. The HDA carries out its functions in partnership with a range of stakeholders including national, provincial and local government and municipalities, as well as with communities, developers and financiers. Established in 2009, the Agency was established by an Act of Parliament in 2008 and is accountable through its Board to the Minister of Human Settlements. The HDA has the following twelve months Graduate Internship Programme:
Main Purpose: To provide unemployed graduates with valuable work experience and skills in the human settlements sector to enhance their employability. To address the problem of youth unemployment, especially tertiary (University and Universities of Technology) graduates by providing them with work experience opportunities in the public service.

Graduates with the following qualifications should apply:
● BSc. in Town & Urban Planning or equivalent qualification in the built environment.
Positions are available in the following locations:
● Western Cape (Cape Town) is seeking 1 x Town & Urban Planning graduate intern.
● Eastern Cape (Port Elizabeth) is seeking 1 x Town & Urban Planning graduate intern.
● Northern Cape (Kimberley) is seeking 1 x Town & Urban Planning graduate intern.
● North West (Mahikeng) is seeking 2 x Town & Urban Planning graduate interns.
● Limpopo (Polokwane) is seeking a 1 x Town & Urban Planning graduate intern.
● Land (Johannesburg) is seeking 1 x Town & Urban Planning graduate intern. Shortlisted candidates will undergo an interview and practical skills assessment on design work on computer aided design (CAD). Applicants must be proficient in design of layout plans or urban design plans and must provide the interview panel with a portfolio of layout or urban design work.
● Programme Planning & Development (Johannesburg) is seeking 1 x Town & Urban Planning graduate intern.
● Priority Housing Development Areas (PHDA) (Johannesburg) is seeking 1 x Town & Urban Planning graduate intern. Shortlisted candidates will undergo an interview and practical skills assessment on design work on computer aided design (CAD). Applicants must be proficient in design of layout plans or urban design plans and must provide the interview panel with a portfolio of layout or urban design work.
We seek to appoint candidates with no work experience, residing in the relevant cities where provincial offices are situated.
