eThekwini councillors and officials visit N2 Gateway and Zanemvula

Last year in November, councillors and officials from eThekwini Metro Municipality visited the N2 Gateway project. The purpose of the visit was for the HDA to share lessons learnt from the mega housing project in order to inform eThekwini’s Cornubia integrated development project. The day started with a presentation by Bosco Khoza, operations manager HDA Cape Town office, to give a context and background to the project before the actual tour of the various projects that make up the N2 Gateway project. At the end of the tour the eThekwini delegation had the opportunity to share their experiences of the day. They were all very positive and complimentary about the HDA, especially the fact that the HDA is prepared to share their challenges and not just the positive aspects of the projects – because, they felt, it’s through understanding what isn’t working or hasn’t worked that the real learning can take place. “We are all so impressed with turnaround of the project. What a professional operation. Project management appears on top of their processes. It was all very impressive.” View photographs of the event.

The visit was such a success that eThekwini undertook another learning visit to the Zanemvula mega housing development, also under the project management of the HDA, on 6 April 2011.
