On 27 November 2013, the HDA hosted a partners’ workshop to finalise draft guidelines on neighbourhood development and upgrading. The objectives of the workshop were to review the draft guidelines developed in partnership with SHIFT, and to provide feedback on high-level development frameworks for two pilot projects modelled using the draft guidelines.
The HDA is currently working on two pilot projects in Mbombela Municipality (Mpumalanga Province) and Mafikeng Municipality (North West Province), assisting the two with the acquisition and release of land for the purpose of upgrading the settlements under the two municipalities.
These two projects will be included as case studies in the final guidelines document to illustrate practically how the guidelines can be applied.
