The HDA is proud to report that it facilitatedthe release of 6113ha of public land in this past financial year – well over the target for the year. In the North West, two state properties of 4269.2815ha were released to the Rustenburg Municipality, and a further two of 1089.4311ha to Madibeng Municipality.
The Agency has also facilitated the release of state land of 754.6182ha to Maluti-a-Phofung Municipality. All the properties were released by the Department of Rural Development and Land Reform.The requisite Deeds of Donation have been signed, to give effect to the donations of the properties in the names of the municipalities.
A total of 6896.1673ha of public land facilitated by the Agency has been released to date by Custodian Departments,and this far exceeds our 2014 Outcome 8 target of 6250 ha.
Over and above this, the agency has facilitated the acquisition 1220.3516ha of state-owned companies land and privately owned land to the following municipalities: BelaBela, Johannesburg, Tshwane, Manguang, Matjabeng, Dihlabeng, Moqhaka, Ventersdorp, Cape Town, Swartland and Lukhanji.
