Minister Sisulu and MEC Maile To Handover Completed Housing Structures in Roodepoort

Minister of Human Settlements, Water and Sanitation, Lindiwe Sisulu, together with the Gauteng MEC of Human Settlements, Urban Planning, Cooperative Governance and

Traditional Affairs, Mr Lebogang Maile and Executive Mayor of the City of Johannesburg, Cllr Geoff Makhubo will tomorrow, 24 May 2020 hand over completed housing units to the

community of Ikemeleng, in Roodepoort.
The Ikemeleng community has been living in tented structures for several years as a result of being evicted from the nearby farms. Their deplorable living conditions made it difficult to adhere to some of the COVID-19 government regulations such as socialdistancing and practicing of safe hygiene. Tomorrow their lives will be changed for the better and their dignity restored as the residents move to decent units.
The political leaders from the three spheres of government, Minister Sisulu, MEC Maile and Mayor Makhubo will be joined by two Chapter 9 institutions namely, Office of the
Public Protector and South African Human Rights Commission represented by Advocate Busi Mkhwebane and Advocate Mohamed Ameermia.
