Compatriots,

It is now just over 100 days since the first case of coronavirus was identified in South Africa.

For 100 days we have been living in the shadow of one of the greatest threats to global health in over 100 years.

The disease, and the measures we have taken to fight it, have caused massive disruption in the lives of our people, bringing our economy to a standstill and threatening the livelihoods of millions.

Over 1500 families moved into new homes in June

 

More than 1500 families are being moved into their new homes during this winter as part of the dedensification programme administered by the Housing Development Agency (HDA) on behalf of the Gauteng provincial department and the City of Merafong Merafong. This forms part of the national Mining Towns Programme placed under the auspices of the HDA by the national Department of Human Settlements.

Statement on resumption of duty in the basic education sector

 

The Council of Education Minister met yesterday to assess the state of readiness for the reopening of schools.

CEM received a report from the Consortium of service providers coordinated by the National Education Collaboration Trust on the External Evaluation and Monitoring of the state of readiness. Rand Water, as an Implementing Agent delivering water to 3 500 schools, also presented its report.
