It’s been just over 100 days since the Minister of Human Settlements was sworn in. In these 100 days, the HDA has been pivotal in assisting the National Department of Human Settlements (NDHS) with developing critical principles and criteria to be used as frameworks for the processes that will form part of the delivery of 1.5-million housing opportunities by 2019.
The HDA introduces a ‘map of the quarter’ to its newsletter to showcase the information that can be produced using HDA’s Land and Property Information System (LaPsis). This quarter’s map looks at the housing need.
We recently unlocked a release of over 900 hectares of state land located in the King Williams Town area in the Eastern Cape. The area is referred to as “Needs Camp”.
On 22 August, Sol Plaatje municipality, Northern Cape awarded a trophy to the HDA as a token of gratitude for a successful presentation on how the HDA uses GIS in the housing sector.
